Christmas By Candlelight
Christmas By Candlelight - Tuesday 19th December
We had a very special visitor in school on our last day before Christmas!
Father Christmas visited School today for our Christmas by Candlelight and brought some presents. He was very tired and had fallen asleep in the Hall, so the children had to wake him up with their best singing.
He then handed out presents for each class.
All the children will also receive a Christingle to bring home today - an orange wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit and sweets, with a candle on the top.
Each element of a Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story:
- The orange represents the world
- The red ribbon (or tape) symbolises the love and blood of Christ
- The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations
- The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.
Perhaps you could light your Christingle candle on Christmas day to remember this?
