This term in Science the children in Year 1 have been thinking about materials - what materials things are made from, what impact this has on our environment and how we can reduce, reuse and recycle different materials. 

Over the half-term the children have also been learning about Bug Hotels and designing their own.  As part of the design process the children decided which materials they needed to use to make the 'hotel' and also thought about how they could reuse and upcycle items. This week they used their designs to make their bug hotels, and they worked independently to pull all the elements of their designs together.

There were some incredibly creative ideas and many made use of upcycled and naturally found items
