Class Representatives voted in
At Sandygate we offer lots of opportunities for our children to be involved in shaping their school and their learning, One of the ways we do this is by having pupil councils in school.
Last week the children in Years 1 and 2 had the opportunity to become their class representative on our various pupil councils. We use this process to give the children an age appropriate introduction to democracy and so, after hearing about the roles availble, children who were interested could nominate themselves as a candidate. Each child then explained to their class why they would like the role and the whole class then took part in a secret ballot.
The roles voted on were for School Council, Eco Warrior, Art Council and Rights Respecting Schools Council. There are two representatives from each class in Years 1 and 2 and these are:
