In school this week

I have enjoyed seeing the Year 2 children really immersed in their Flight topic this week. In design & technology they have been designing some fabulous kites and I can't wait to see the finished products!

We were sorry to say goodbye to Matt Clark earlier this week, and you will have seen from the News Story that we held a special school worship for him.  Matt has been a wonderful and lively part of the school family over the last few years. I would like to personally thank him for the contribution that he has made to the school, not only by delivering school worship on a regular basis but also providing a valuable link between the school and other parts of the community. He has helped me organise many of the community events we have been involved in, which has meant in turn that we have been able to have a greater impact on the local community.

Travis Ludlow has been another visitor to school this week. He has really inspired the children with his stories about his around the world flight - he is currently the youngest pilot in the world to have achieved such a feat.

Next week, we see the return of Aris Daryono. Aris will be working with the Year 1 children. Aris has been missing from school for the last 2 years as he has been unable to visit us because of the pandemic. We are hoping that we will be able to cover the full timetable of activities with him this year.

PE Day Changes

There are some changes to PE days over the next few weeks because of special event days we have in school. Please check your child's Class Homepage for details of any changes.

Java Topic

Next week Year 1 will be welcoming Aris Daryono in to school to work with them on their Java Topic. Aris is a musician from Java who has been working with our school since 2010. He will be introducing the children to many aspects of Javanese culture, they will be playing traditional Gamelan instruments, making shadow puppets to tell a story and hearing some traditional tales.

We will be inviting Year 1 parents to come to school at 5pm on Wednesday 9th February when the children will entertain you with their traditional puppet show. More details will be in next week's Newsletter

Class Worship

The first class worship will take place next week on Friday 28th when Dragonfly class will be leading the school. We are looking forward to welcoming Dragonfly parents in to share in this worship, if you are intending to come and have not yet registered please do so here. https://forms.gle/nhGFDwkHMk9wcUmi8. Registration is required as we are limiting numbers in the School Hall still and we will not be able to allow entrance to people who have not registered.

We would ask that parents attending school worship wear a mask when on school premises and if you are able to take a LFD test before attending that would be appreciated.

The remaining Class Worship dates are as below and parent sign up will be communicated in the school Newsletter 2 weeks before each date. We apologise that the Grasshopper class worship has had to be postponed until March.

Booking for Parent Consultations will be via the website or the e4Education app and will open on the morning of Monday 31st January and close on Friday 11th February.

Appointments will be 10 minutes and only one appointment should be booked per child. The consultations will take place in school and are for adults only and so your child should not come with you.

Reception Curriculum Evening - Date for your diary

Monday 7th February

There will be a Curriculum Information Evening for parents of children in Reception on Monday 9th February. We will explain how we deliver the curriculum and how you can support your child at home.
