In school this week

This last week of term has been so special!  Christmas has really arrived at Sandygate. The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing the Christmas story with their parents through their Nativity plays and this, along with the Christmas parties yesterday and the Christingle 'Christmas by Candlelight' this morning  have given the school an atmosphere of celebration.

The staff team have been amazing, as always, this year and I would like to thank them for their continuing dedication, going the extra mile to provide nurture and wonderful learning opportunities for the children.

We are so blessed with the support of a wonderful parent body, and we have been warmed by your generosity this Christmas time. Not only in the form of the gifts that have been sent into school for the staff but also in the support through charitable giving. You will see below the phenomenal amount we have raised for the chosen charities this year.

We would also like to thank the PFA core committee for their continued support of our school. This is not only through the amazing amounts of money they raise for us (see their report below) but also the huge range of jobs they do from providing refreshments for Open Days and Nativities to making 180 Christingles. We really could not do what we do without them.

I would like to wish all our school families a happy, peaceful and healthy Christmas, and we are looking forward to seeing you all in 2022.

Nativity Plays

We are so pleased that we were able to share our Nativity Plays with you safely. The children and staff have worked very hard and it was lovely to be able to perform to an audience.

There are some selected photographs on the school website here and we hope to have the DVDs ready to send out in the first week of term. If you have still not ordered one there is still time to do so.

The School Council would like to thank everyone who supported their chosen charities over the Christmas period. The amounts raised are

Save the Children - Christmas Jumper Day  - £393

Nativity Play collections (to be divided between Toilet Twinning, Wycombe Homeless Connection & The Red Cross) - £429

The Children's Society - Christingle candle boxes - £365

In addition to this there was a further £366.69 raised for the British Legion through the Poppy Appeal and all the wonderful donations for One Can Trust both at Harvest and for their Christmas Hamper appeal.

PFA News

Congratulations to all the successful raffle and silent auction winners this week.  If you have yet to collect your prize these will now be available when we return to school in January.  Your amazing efforts to help with fundraising this term have generated a staggering £8000.  Well done.  That is a fantastic total for school to utilise.

The Christingle service this morning was magical.  We are very grateful to Mo from Marlow Green on Spittal Street for his kind donation of 180 oranges.  The lit christingles really did shine bright and we hope the children enjoy sharing them with you when they bring them home today.

The PFA would like to wish all of our school families and staff a safe and happy Christmas.  We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2022.
