In school this week

Welcome Back to School!

It was great to welcome our Year 1 and Year 2 children back to school this morning and to see all their parents and carers. The children went into school happily and our new system for drop off seemed to work well - once everyone realised that there was no need to queue after 18 months of having to do so. Thank you so much for your support in the changes we are making to our pick up and drop off — I am sure that as we go through the next week or so, things will run even more smoothly.

The new Reception children have been having their school visits and again there has been much excitement around starting school. For many it is their first proper visit, and I am glad to say that they all seem really keen to be starting their school life.

Today the Key Stage 1 have been getting to know their new teaching teams and learning environment, and we have also taken the opportunity to explore spirituality through our Spirituality Day. You will see some wonderful photos below of the children taking part in activities that have helped them explore how they feel about things and each other. There is a short article about how we will be working on increasing awareness of the children's spiritual development over the next year.  Thank you to Mr & Mrs Gallop, Mrs Dunne and Matt Clark from All Saints who have helped the children to decorate the outside Reflection area today.

I am looking forward to seeing all the children in school on Monday!

Spiritual Development

At Marlow Church of England Infant School aim to give children the opportunity to develop their spirituality. It is our role in school to inspire, create and recognise that spirituality exists in everyone.

We consider that Spirituality makes us who we are. It is our ability to reflect about our beliefs. It is being able to inform our perspective on life and our interest in and respect for different people’s faiths, feelings and values.

In helping us to reflect about who we are, spiritual development allows is to think about how we can improve the lives of others and as a result improve our happiness through sharing, caring and being kind. It is about our relationship with ourselves and others.

Spirituality allows us to experience and appreciate the beauty of our world and all things great. It is that sense of enjoyment and being fascinated and curious to learn about ourselves, others and the world around us.

The children will be learning about and becoming more aware about their own spirituality through the use of the concept of Mirrors, Windows and Doors. This concept is summarised below.

End of Day

Thank you to all parents for endeavouring to follow our instructions at the beginning and end of the day. We would just ask that, when your child comes to the front of the line, you step forward to collect them. With so many parents collecting and staff getting to know new children and parents it is very difficult for them to pick you out in the crowd.

Tissues

As we start the new term we would appreciate if every family could donate a box of tissues for use in school. This will ensure that there are always tissues available in every classroom and you will not need to remember to put tissues in your child's bag every day should they need them. Just hand them to any member of staff at drop off or pick up

Medicines and Healthcare Plans

We will be sending out next week annual review slips for all children with Healthcare plans and medicines in school. If your child needs medicine in school then please ensure that you have brought it in and handed it to a member of staff in the school office. Medicines should not be sent in children's bags or handed directly to class teachers as they need to be correctly recorded.

Messages for school

Any messages regarding your child eg change of pick-up arrangements can either be emailed to the school office - office@marlow-infant.bucks.sch.uk or left on the school answerphone. In either case please give your child's full name and their class so we can ensure the message reaches the correct staff members.
