In school this week

Our last full week of the academic year, and it has been quite a week!  The Year 1 Mindful act of Service on Wednesday was a great success and so well-received by the elderly residents that had been invited. The children sang so beautifully and shared their 'Mr Blue Sky' dance. My thanks go to Mrs Phillips and the Year 1 team who helped with to prepare the children.

Sports Day, I hope you agree, was a huge success and it was good to welcome parents/carers onto the school site to watch the children participate in sports activities. Mrs Downing prepared all the activities and led in the planning of the day but the entire staff team helped to make the occasion work so effectively. The children had a great time and of course it is worth remembering that the last time the Year 2 children participated in a sports day was when they were in Reception and for the other two year groups it was their first!

On Monday evening the PFA AGM was held. I am sorry to say that Vicki Clark the chair has stood down from the post of Chair. Vicki has been Chair of the PFA  for around 4 years and has led the team to raise much needed funds for the school. Her drive and vision has meant that the school and your children have benefited from record sums of money that have been spent on a range of items and projects from painting the inside of school to new toilets for the KS1 children to school trips and curriculum enrichment!  Vicki has been a pleasure to work with and her team have made the last 16 months much easier for me. Her resignation leaves our PFA without a Chair. (more details about the composition of the committee below).

PFA AGM 12th July 2021

This year the PFA  made a £22, 365 profit which is phenomenal considering the fact that none of the usual events could be held. The school really appreciates the generosity of parents and the dedication of the committee. The school wish list will be posted on the PFA section of the school website before the end of term. This will show parents what the money is being spent on during the financial year 2021-22

At the AGM on Monday evening, all the committee members resigned and the following appointments were made. Where there was nobody who wanted to be nominated for an appointment, the post remains vacant.

PE Days in September

In September we will continue to ask children to come to school on PE days in their PE kits. We have not yet decided which days each year group will have PE and this will be communicated to parents in the first Newsletter of the new term. On Friday 3rd September. All children should come to school in normal uniform on that first day.

If you wish to purchase a hoody for your child to wear on PE days then these will be available shortly from the school uniform supplier, Different Class, for £10.50. The hoody is an optional item and children can wear their usual school cardigan or sweatshirt with their PE kit or a school fleece. The fleece is also optional and is for outdoor wear only.
