What an emotional week it has been and what an incredible year! As we waved goodbye to our children and families, some for the summer and some as they move on to pastures new, there have been tears in my eyes on more than one occasion.
There are so many thank you's I need to give and my first is to our parents and carers - your encouragement, understanding and thoughtfulness has been overwhelming. I cannot believe your generosity either, the cards and the gifts that I and the staff team have received have made us feel very humbled and deeply appreciated. We have felt cocooned and uplifted by your support and that has meant that we have been able to focus on doing our best for your children emotionally, socially and academically.
My next thank you is for our incredible staff team. I am truly blessed to work with such a dedicated and hard working group of people. This year particularly has shown me what can be achieved when people are working together, with the same ethos, towards the same goal. I would particularly like to mention my leadership team, Mrs Downing, Mrs Burkitt and Mrs Fearn who have shared the burden of the last few months with me - a talented team indeed.
Our Governing Body too are also deserving of thanks. They have been supportive of the staff team, ensuring that we have what we need, working on projects behind the scenes- all for the benefit of the children and the school. Their help has been there when we have needed it and we are very appreciative of all they do.
And last, and by no means least, the children. Our Year 2 children leaving to move on to another school is always difficult for us and this year has been no exception. At our Leaver's Service on Wednesday, it was lovely to see the children all together for the first time since March and when they started singing with such such enthusiasm we were all so pleased to see how happy they were. They do , as I said in the service, enrich our lives and although it is sad to say goodbye to our Year 2s, I know that they are ready to move to Year 3 and take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities that will come.
As we look at our plans for September, we will be trying to open the school as 'normal' but there will be a few changes and we will be sending a letter out on Monday with all the details. This will include starting times, finishing times, what the children will need to bring and hopefully all the information you will need to prepare your lives for the new school year. My apologies for not sending this today but there have been a few additional details that I have needed to ensure were possible before communicating with you. In short though, all KS1 year groups will be in school from 3rd September and all Reception children will be in school from Monday 7th September .
I would like to wish you all a wonderful summer and I hope that you are able to make plans to have a break.
Mrs Reynolds
