In school this week

Our Safety Day on Tuesday offered children lots of opportunities to learn new skills and ways to keep themselves and others safe. Their interactive First Aid session with Dr McGurran was really popular,  as were the Scootability sessions. You can see below for more details. Thanks go to Mr Creese for organising the day.

Our Christmas displays are up in the school hall now and on Monday, the Christmas decorations will go up. The Advent season will definitely be upon us next week!

General news & reminders

Baxter said, ' Our favourite book is Oi Puppies and I like the rhymes, ' while Oliver preferred the bit in the book where the cat and the frog didn't know what all the doggies were called. Aidan said, 'I like the cat. My brither likes the cat too.'

We hope you have enjoyed the book recommendations this half term.

Term Dates

The term dates for 2026–2027 have now been published on our school website and are available to download at the bottom of the page here.

Active Journey Week

Date: w/c 24th November

Each term we hold an Active Journey week (formerly known as 'Walk to School Week'), the aim of which is to raise awareness for and encourage more sustainable journeys to school.

During active journey week, we encourage parents/carers and children to walk, cycle, scoot to school. If you live further away from school, you can park your car further away from school than usual so that part of the journey can be walked (Park & Stride).

Every day, we ask the children to log how they came to school and during this week we will be trying to increase the number of active journeys. In Celebration Worship on Friday, there will be a trophy awarded to the class with the most active journeys during the week.

Safety Day

  •  Date: Tuesday 25th November

As part of our Active Journey week (formerly known as 'Walk to School Week') which takes place during the week of 24th November, we will be holding our annual Safety Day.

As part of the Safety Day, the children will be taking part in a range of activities which principally focus on safety around transport and roads. During the day, the children will all have a Scootability session which will teach them how to ride and use their scooters safely. There is no need to send children's scooters into school. Each child will be provided with a scooter and the necessary safety equipment for their session.

Other sessions include:

  • First Aid (provided by Dr McGurran)
  • Road Safety (provided by teachers)

Christmas

Nativity memory bundle

We would like to offer families a chance to buy a digital photo of your child/ren dressed in their nativity costume, together with a video link  to their child's nativity performance. This bundle is now available to purchase on ParentPay for £6.00

Christmas Lunch

Date: Friday 12th December

In school on 12th December, lunchtime will be very Christmassy as the children have the option to have Christmas lunch. Roast Turkey and stuffing baps are available to order on the Kids Lunch website – all you need to do is order this in the normal way.

Christmas Parties

Date: Thursday 18th December

Children are welcome to come to school dressed in festive party clothes on this day, as we will be having class Christmas parties!

Christmas Jumper Day

Date: Friday 12th December

On Friday 12th December, we will be taking part in Christmas Jumper Day to get into the Christmas Spirit, and help raise money for Save The Children.

On Christmas Jumper Day, children can come into school wearing a Christmas Jumper instead of their normal school jumper. This jumper doesn't have to be bought specially, it can be an existing jumper decorated so that it looks Christmassy.

Christmas Jumper Day will be raising money for Save the Children. We would like every child to make a donation of a £1. These donations can be made on our Just Giving page.

Advent Service

The whole school will be walking to All Saints Church on Tuesday 2nd December for our Advent Service from 9.45am-10.15am.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help using the form. You should have received a confirmation email. If you have emailed the school office to volunteer, we will be in touch on Monday.

The worship leaders have been practising their service and are excited to share it with you. It would be wonderful to see the seats of the church full with parents, carers and grandparents, so please come along and join us if you can.

Data Collection Sheet

Last week, the children brought home a data collection sheet. This sheet shows you the contact details that we hold for you on our management information system.

Please could you check the details.

Use the link below to let us know if the information is correct or not. If there is incorrect information, please make the changes on the sheet and return it to the school office. You do not need to send the sheet back to school if there aren't any changes needed.

We would appreciate it if parents/carers could complete this by Friday 5th December. So far we have had only 36 returned.

Year 2 News

Maypole Club

In January, Maypole club will be starting. This club is led by Mrs Reynolds and will take place every Thursday after school between 3.15pm and 3.45pm. We need a minimum of 12 children to make the club viable. Children who sign up for this club will take part in performances at the Summer Fair and Open Afternoon. This means that they will need to commit to the club for both the spring and summer terms.

So far, 7 children have signed up for the club – we still need 5 more children to sign up to be able to run the club.

If you would like your child to take part in Maypole Club, please sign up below.

A Big 'Thank You'

A Big 'Thank you'

A big thank you to some of the Year 2 dads who decided to take 'Dad’s Night' out to a reformer Pilates class! The class was run by My Pilates House who donated their amazing studio & teachers Nicky Reeves and Corinne Hutchinson. The dads raised £100 for the PFA for the pain and suffering they went through! It sounds like it was a great session followed by some well-deserved beers.
