Pyjama Day is Coming!
Date: Friday 7th November
We are very excited to announce that this year we will be having a Pyjama Day! The theme is “snuggling up in bed with a good book” — the perfect way to celebrate our love of reading.
As you know, we are so proud of our beautiful new library, and now we’d love to fill it with even more fantastic books for everyone to enjoy. With this in mind, we kindly ask that on Pyjama Day you either donate a book from our wishlist here or contribute a small amount towards buying new books for the library.
Thank you for helping us make our library a magical place for all our readers!

Lunch Orders
If your child has school lunches, please remember to place your order for the week after half term. You can order the lunches now but the cut off is Friday 31st October before midday.

Fire Evacuation/Lockdown Drills
Over the academic year, we have to practice evacuating and locking down the school building. This is an essential part of our safety procedures, recommended by the HSE.
We talk to the children regularly about their safety and why  we need to do these drills, to help them to become familiar with them when the time comes to practice.
Once a term, we practice the evacuation and this involves leaving the school building when the alarm sounds and assembling on the Reception playground. We practice lockdown once a year when we assemble in different places (depending on the class) in the school away from windows.
After each of these practices, teachers spend time listening to any questions the children may have and discussing why it is important to practice.

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 2025
We received the traditional poppy boxes this week, so after half-term the school council and school staff will be selling the poppies and other merchandise outside school at drop-off and pick-up each morning. The suggested donation for all items is £1. We also have a small supply of metal pin badges for adults, for a donation of £3.

Smartphone culture shift in Marlow
Smartphone Free Childhood is a grassroots movement of parents who want to give our children a few more years to grow up free from smartphone pressure.  The movement has grown enormously, both on the national stage and right here in Marlow and there is a real culture shift underway.
Looking ahead to Holy Trinity, where most Sandygate children go on to, mobile phones are completely banned.  In just over 12 months, over 120 Holy Trinity and Sandygate children have been signed up to the Smartphone Free Childhood Parent Pact - that’s families committing to delaying smartphones until at least 14 and social media until 16.

Delaying smartphones has stopped feeling so hard – it is becoming the new normal. In Marlow, simple brick phones are now common in Year 7, allowing children contact with parents and friends without the risks of the internet in their pocket.
The Parent Pact brings families together – giving parents confidence to delay and kids strength in numbers. If this sounds like something you want to be part of, now’s the moment to sign.  https://parentpact.smartphonefreechildhood.co.uk/

Spy Dog Books
Parents and carers may have heard that there has been a safeguarding alert regarding Andy Cope's books, including Spy Dogs, Spy Cats and Spy Pup series published by Puffin
There is a link to what was Andy Cole's website inside the cover of some of the books. This website is no longer owned by Andy Cole and the link now leads to a website which contains inappropriate content.
The content of the books is still appropriate for children it is just the link (QR code) that is not.
We wanted to reassure you that we don't have any of these books in school but the information might be useful for those of you who have these books at home.
