26th September 2025

In school this week

Today the Reception children had their first celebration worship in the school hall! It was separate from the other year groups to help them get used to the space and the routines of collective worship. Next week, they will be joining the rest of the school for celebration worship.

Outdoor learning started this week for all classes and the children were pleased to welcome back Dan from The Outdoor Project.  In outdoor learning this half-term there are lots of exciting activities planned. Year 2 will be learning all about materials in Science, Year 1 will be designing and making a bug hotel in Design & Technology and Reception are exploring and making with nature.

This week's newsletter is a bumper one as we start to settle into the term.

General news & reminders

Recommended Reads - whole school

One area of focus in our reading curriculum is to promote the love of reading and there are many ways in which we do this in school. From reading class stories, to visiting the library in school to spending time reading and choosing books, modelling reading skills, discussing texts, to children sharing their love of reading through the recommending of books to their peers.

This week it was the turn of Dragonfly Class who recommended 'We're Going to Find the Monster!' written by Malorie Blackman. Gabriel and Violet shared the book with the rest of the school and said that Dragonfly Class were recommending it because it reminds them of Bear Hunt story. Violet particularly liked the cute penguins and Gabriel liked it when the children in the story were playing with their toys because it made them happy.

Harvest Festival

  • Date: Thursday 9th October

We will be holding our Harvest Festival service twice in school, one at 9.00am-9.30am and the other at 2.30pm-3.00pm. The service will be led by Year 2 worship leaders and each year group will be singing a song as part of the service.

In the past, this has always been a very popular service and, as space in our school hall is limited, we have had to hold the service twice to accommodate everyone who wished to attend.

We would like to ask all parents who would like to attend this service to book a session.

Book your ticket here

One Can Trust

Harvest time is all about being thankful for what we have, and we will be talking to the children about this in school. Helping and sharing with others is a good way of showing how thankful we are, and so we will be supporting One Can Trust (High Wycombe) over the Harvest period. One Can Trust works with organisations, including Buckinghamshire Council to provide weekly food parcels to those who need their help.

We will be collecting items for One Can Trust from Monday 6th October for our Harvest offering.

There will be boxes out at drop-off and pick-up all week. Please see below their priority list of items. If every child could bring in one tin or packet, then we would have 160 items to donate to One Can Trust, which would have a big impact. We will send out another reminder closer to the time.

One Can Trust has a list of their most wanted items which you can see below.

Morning Snack

If grapes and cherry tomatoes are being sent in for children's morning snack, please could parents and carers make sure that these items are cut in half.

Facebook & Instagram

Please don't forget to follow us on social media! We will be using these platforms to share some of the wonderful things we do and achieve at school, so please 'like' and 'follow' us!

Home Learning – Google Classrooms

Logins for Google Classrooms were sent out to parents & carers of all children on Monday. Please contact the school office if you have any problems logging on or if you didn't receive yours.

Sandygate Sunday

  • Date: Sunday 28th September 11.00am-12 noon

Once a term, we are invited to take part in the 10.59 service at All Saints Church. Some of our pupils will read prayers they have written, and we lead the congregation in one of the songs we sing in school. The children will be singing one of their favourite Harvest songs 'Plates Piled High'. We have only 10 children signed up so far, and we would like lots more to keep these 10 company!

All Sandygate families are welcome to come along to the service. We ask that children wear their red jumpers/cardigans to identify them as Marlow Infant pupils. They should sit with their family during the service and the school staff in church will invite them up at the appropriate times.

All Saints Community Fun Day

  • Date: Sunday 28th September 1.00pm - 4.00pm

After Sandygate Sunday, the All Saints team will be holding a fun-filled event to which all our school families are invited. There will be lots of activities to enjoy and refreshments provided. This is a great opportunity to meet other local families as well as school ones.  There is a leaflet containing full details at the bottom of the newsletter.

Individual school photographs

  • Date: Friday 26th September

All children are to come dressed in full school uniform on this day as they will have their individual school photo taken.

Tombola Donations

  • Date: Wednesday 24th September

As part of our upcoming Back to School BBQ, the PFA are kindly asking for donations for the Adult Tombola. Suitable items include:

  • Bottles

  • Toiletries

  • Chocolates

  • Candles

  • Sweets

  • Ornaments

  • Gift items

  • New/unopened toys

Please bring your donations to the morning drop-off on Wednesday, 24th September. A collection table will be set up at the front of the school.

School Census

  • Date: Thursday 2nd October

It's Census day next Thursday and a significant amount of the funding we are granted is based on how many children take a school-provided lunch on this day.

If parents or carers have not already ordered lunch for their child on this day, we would greatly appreciate it if they could consider doing so. This would make sure we get the greatest amount of funding to spend on the children as possible.

Help needed!

Does anyone have a 3m x 6m gazebo? The Year 1 team would like to borrow one for a couple of weeks towards the end of this half-term. Ideally, the gazebo would have sides (plastic). The gazebo would be used as part of the Year 1 Outdoor Learning lessons.

They would be hugely grateful if anyone was able to help with this.

Design & Technology/Outdoor Learning

The Year 1 children are excited about their outdoor learning sessions this term. They will be researching, designing and making a permanent bug hotel for our school field!

In order for this to be effective, we would really appreciate any donations of natural materials please. We are specifically looking for:

-Old garden canes or sticks (ideally cut down to around 15cm in length)

-Small logs

-Old terracotta plant pots (they can be broken!)

-Small bricks

-Natural insulating material (the type you may get in food or dog food deliveries!)

-Any other small natural items that can be placed inside a wooden pallet (no plastic please)

Great Fire of London – Design & Technology

During their Great Fire of London topic, the Year 2 children will be learning about firefighting in Stuart times and comparing it to nowadays. They will be designing and making their own firefighting model. In order to make their models, each child will need a shoebox or a small box. Please could they bring these in next week (named)  before Friday 26th September.

Great Fire of London Day

Date: Wednesday 22nd October

The topic for Year 2 this half-term is the Great Fire of London. On Wednesday 22nd October, 'History off the Page 'will be coming into school to give the children enriching experience of the topic by immersing them into Stuart Britain. This is a fabulous day for the children when they become archaeologists, candlestick makers, leather makers...the list is huge.

An email was sent out today giving more details of the day, ideas for dressing up for the children and asking for volunteers.

If you can help for either the morning, the afternoon or even all day then please let us know by Friday 3rd October 2025.

Please let us know if you can help
