2nd September 2025

In school this week

Welcome back to the new academic year!

I hope that you all had an enjoyable summer and are feeling rested and ready for the school routine.

This week is going to seem very short with the Year 1 & Year 2 children in school for only 2 days. The time will be spent doing start of year activities, getting to know the new classrooms and adults. On Friday we will be having a Spirituality Day which focuses on spiritual development, giving the children time to reflect and consider what is important to them.

Over the summer, Mrs Wright, who worked in the school office moved on to another role, and so we are currently slightly short-staffed in the office. I hope that you will bear with us while we complete the recruitment process for a new member of the office team!

The staff team and I are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow.

General news & reminders

Whole school news

Arrival timings

Doors open: 8.45am-8.55am. Gates close at 8.55am and registers close at 9.00am.

Reception

When entering the school grounds, Reception families should use the footpath to the left-hand side when facing the school, and follow the path to the gate nearest the school building. They should follow the path down the side of the building for the Reception staff to come out and welcome the children.

KS1

Children should use the front door, and they walk down to the classrooms themselves. There is always a member of staff in each classroom and a member of staff from each year group at the door in the morning.

End of the school day

School finishes at 3.15pm and the arrangements for pick-up are as follows:

Reception

Reception families queue up on the footpath which runs down the side of the school. The front of the queue should start at the gate onto the Reception playground (we only use the gate to the covered area when it is raining). Teachers will bring their class out to the gate and dismiss the children one at a time to parents as they come to the front of the queue.

KS1

KS1 families should wait in the car park at the front of school but not too close to the front door. Teachers will take their class out of the school building via the front door, and they will line the children up behind them so that they are able to send the children to their parents/carers one at a time. Please do not come too close to the children, as this makes it difficult for the teachers to see who to dismiss the children to.

Please be patient as it can take a little while for the teachers to start to recognise which children belong to which parents/carers, and please do not take your child out of the line. This process forms an important part of our safeguarding procedures, and we need to ensure that we know that each child goes to the correct adult.

Please also note that we will not hand over a child to anyone who is not an adult - ie. under the age of 18 years old.

Morning fruit snack

We ask parents to send in a small fresh or dried fruit snack for their child to eat during break time. For example, a small banana, a box of raisins or a pot of sugar snap peas. Please don't send in fruit winders, sweets, chocolate or anything containing nuts. If grapes are sent in, please make sure they are cut in half.

PE/Library days for 2025-26

Below are details of the PE and library days for each year group for the new academic year. On PE days, the children come dressed in their PE clothes (please see details on the school website of what the school PE uniform is). On library days, children should bring in the library book that they have taken out of the library the previous week. The library bag provided should be used to bring the book into school.

Years 1 & 2

Meet the Teacher

  • Date: Monday 8th September 6.00pm-6.30pm

Meet the Teacher is held at the start of each new school year for parents in Years 1 and 2. It is a chance for the class teacher to introduce themselves to parents and tell you all about classroom expectations, the curriculum they will be teaching this year and some of the topics and activities the class will be doing.

The meeting will last around 30 minutes and will be held in your child's classroom. We regret that this is not an opportunity to have a conversation with the class teacher about any specific issues regarding your child.

New parents can drop into the school hall straight after drop off on Monday 8th September for a coffee. It's a great opportunity to meet other new parents and shed those first day school nerves.
