20th December 2024

In school this week

This morning we held our Christmas by Candlelight, and it was a wonderful way to end the term. The children were really excited to have a special visit from Father Christmas! We are all very thankful that Father Christmas was able to make time for us and enjoyed chatting to the children and even told a joke!

The staff team have been amazing, as always, this year and I would like to thank them for their continuing dedication, going the extra mile to provide nurture and wonderful learning opportunities for the children.

We are so blessed with the support of a wonderful parent body, and we have been warmed by your generosity this Christmas. Not only in the form of the gifts that have been sent into school for the staff, but also in the support through charitable giving.

We would also like to thank the PFA committee for their continued support of our school. This is not only through the amazing amounts of money they raise for us, but also by the huge range of jobs they do from providing refreshments for Open Mornings and Nativities to making 162 Christingles. We really could not do what we do without them.

I would like to wish all our school families a happy, peaceful and healthy Christmas, and we are looking forward to seeing you all in 2025.

Mrs S Reynolds

General news & reminders

Whole school news

Nativity bundle

These have now been sent out to everyone who has ordered the bundle. Please let the office know if you haven't received it.

Charity donation

After our nativity performances, we were collecting for a number of charities: Wycombe Homeless Connection and The Children's Society. If you didn't have any change with you, we would appreciate your donation on ParentPay.

REMINDER: Spring term club sign-ups

  • Dates: These clubs will start w/c 13th January

If you would like to sign your child up to any of our school-run clubs:

Please register here

We will let you know if your child is given a place and will try our best to offer all children at least one club. If your child has not been given a place in a club, they will be added to a waiting list and will be contacted should a place become available for them. They will also be on the list for next term.

To book clubs run by external companies, you can find the list on our website here. Please contact them directly.

Trainers on PE days

We would like to remind families that part of our school uniform on PE days is for children to come in to school wearing plain black trainers.

We don't want to see trainers of any other colour or ones that light up. Please take the opportunity over the Christmas break to make sure your child has black trainers ready for their PE lesson in the new year.

Science Home Learning

  • Due date: Friday 10th January

Children have been given science experiments to do during the Christmas break. We would love to see how you got on, and it’s up to you to decide how you’d like to show us your experiment!

Smartphone Free Childhood

The Smartphone Free Childhood (SFC) campaign is a national parent-led movement raising awareness about the risks of smartphones in schools for our younger pre-teens and teens.

https://smartphonefreechildhood.co.uk

The local SFC groups have come together and are conducting a Marlow wide survey for parents of primary school children to gauge their views on smartphone use / their concerns.

The link to the survey is here:

https://jllworkplace.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0Cyog9gYKn0ZONo

The SFC movement aims to bring parents together to share information, understand what is happening nationally and internationally and, ultimately, delay smartphones in schools for under 14s. You could join the group to be involved in the local conversation and keep abreast of Marlow-specific news.
