In school this week

Our harvest festival yesterday was a good opportunity to reflect on the fact that we have so much to be thankful for. The Year 2 worship leaders did a wonderful job of leading the service and all the children sang so beautifully. My thanks go to Mrs Downing and the class teachers for working with the children to learn the songs.

I was pleased to see so many children at Sandygate Sunday last weekend - the congregation loved hearing 'Plates Piled High'. As always, we had a very warm welcome from the All Saints Team.

On Wednesday evening, we held the Year 2 curriculum information session. Thank you to those parents who attended. The feedback was extremely positive and everyone who came along found the session useful. This was the last of the curriculum sessions for this term, and you will find the presentations and handouts on the Class Home Pages on the website.

In a recent newsletter message, I asked if there were any parents/carers who were interested in becoming a school governor. I would like to give a few more days for any expressions of interest to be made, so if you think this is something you would like to be involved in, please let me know via the school office by Wednesday 9th October.

Recommended reads

Each week in Celebration worship this term, children share their favourite reads with the rest of the school. This week it was the turn of Bee class. Their favourite book is Perfectly Norman by Tom Percival.

Gigi said "The story made me happy", Otis said "I liked it because he was proud of himself", Eliza said "The part I liked the most was when he took off his coat", Oliver M said "I enjoyed the bit when he grew wings", Dexter said "I liked the whole story".

Parent consultations

  • Dates: Tuesday 22nd & Wednesday 23rd October, between 4pm-7pm

Thank you to the parents/carers who have booked their slot. There are still a few parents who haven't done so yet. If you are having trouble, please contact the office and we can book it for you.

Volunteer training

  • Dates: Tuesday 15th October & Thursday 17th October

Mums, dads, carers and grandparents are all very welcome in school as helpers. Thank you to those who have offered their help already. We have had family volunteers working on a variety of activities including listening to children read, mounting and displaying work and helping with sewing and craft activities – the possibilities are endless. The school operates a policy whereby parents need to attend a short training session before helping out in class. This training will be held in the school hall. We are offering two sessions, 2.30pm-3.30pm Tuesday 15th October or 9.00am-10.00am Thursday 17th October.

If you are interested in becoming a regular helper, please click here to read the Confidentiality Policy and here to read the Child Protection Policy. Then click here to complete the form.

A big thank you...

Thank you to everyone who came to our fundraising meeting last week. It was lovely to have some new faces and get some great new ideas.

Also, a massive thank you to the following parents who volunteered to be class reps. Class reps help bring information from the PFA to you via the year Whatsapp group and are happy for you to approach them with any questions or ideas.

  • Year 1 Ladybird & Butterfly – Anjie Daden & Jodie Butler

Brickies

  • Date: Sunday 17th November 3pm - 4.30pm

We will be holding a Brickies session on Sunday 17th November 3pm - 4.30pm. Spaces are limited and tickets are priced at £15 per child. Tickets are now available on ParentPay. Please note, due to the limited number of spaces available, we are not able to accommodate non-Sandygate children.

Christmas cards

This week in school, the children will be designing their Christmas cards. Your child will be coming home with their design and paperwork either today or early next week. If you’d like to purchase cards and gifts with their design on them, you need to register online shop.cauliflowergroup.co.uk using the unique code (top left-hand corner).

Once you’ve placed your online orders, you need to return the form and artwork to school by Friday 11th October.

Should you have any questions, please feed through your Class Reps.

Silent auction

Our Christmas silent auction will be running in December, and we are looking for donations of prizes from our Sandygate community. No prize is too big or too small. Could you or your employer donate products, services, vouchers, tickets or experiences as prizes and auction lots? Do you have your own business that could donate a prize? Do you have clients or business contacts who might be able to donate a prize or two?

Please contact Cori on pfa@marlow-infant.bucks.sch.uk
