In school this week

This week started early with the Circus on Sunday! What a fabulous event it was and the Big Top on the school field looked so impressive. My thanks go to the organising team and all the people that gave up their time to help at the event. You can see some pictures and more information in the News Story below.

I am thrilled to announce that Mrs Mitchell has had her baby. Zoe Mitchell was born on Wednesday and both mum and baby are doing well. I am sure that you will join me in congratulating Mr & Mrs Mitchell on the birth of their daughter.

On Sunday, we will be visiting All Saints church for Sandygate Sunday. We would love to see as many children as possible there, as we plan to sing 'Plates Piled High' to the congregation. After the service, there is a family fun day, which was extremely popular last year.

General news & reminders

Recommended reads

One of the focusses of our reading curriculum is to promote the love of reading and there are many ways in which we do this in school. From reading class stories, to visiting the library in school to spend time reading and choosing books, modelling reading skills, discussing texts, to children sharing their love of reading through the recommending of books to their peers.

Each week in Celebration worship, two children share their favourite reads with the rest of the school. This week it was the turn of Ant class.  Their favourite book is The Bumblebear by Nadia Shireen.

Lucas said 'I liked it because the bees gave him honey'. Elise said 'I liked it when he fancy dressed up as a bee!'

Parent consultations

  • Dates: Tuesday 22nd & Wednesday 23rd October, between 4pm-7pm

Parent consultation slots will be live on our school website from Monday.

To book:

  1. Log onto our school website, then a 'Parents' Evening' button will appear at the very top left of your screen
  2. Select your preferred time slot
  3. Click to reserve it
  4. Remember to then click save, otherwise someone else may take your slot
  5. Jot down your time slot, as you won't receive a confirmation email

Appointments are 10 minutes long, and teachers will be sharing with parents/carers how their child(ren) has settled into the new school year, where they are in relation to the expected standards for this time of year, and some next steps for their learning.

Harvest Festival

  • Date: Thursday 3rd October

We would like to remind all parents who would like to attend this service to book a session.

Book your ticket here

One Can Trust

We will be collecting items for One Can Trust every day next week for our Harvest offering. There will be a trolley out at drop-off and pick-up all week. If every child could bring in one tin or packet, then we would have 160 items to donate to One Can Trust, which would have a big impact.

  • Date: Thursday 3rd October

It's Census day next Thursday and a significant amount of the funding we are granted is based on how many children take a school provided lunch on this day.

If parents could consider school Kids Lunch, then this would make sure we get the greatest amount of funding to spend on the children as possible. They do not need to order lunch - just allow their child to take part in the school-provided buffet lunch.

Coats & other outdoor clothing

At this time of the year, the weather can be very unpredictable and can change over the course of the day.

Please ensure that your child has a coat in school every day. We try to get the children outside during playtime and lunchtime as much as we can and, with the current changeable weather, a waterproof coat is essential.

Please remember to check that all coats are clearly named.

Year 2 news

Design & Technology

Please could all Year 2 children bring in a small cardboard box for their DT project. These need to be brought in by Friday.

PFA news

A big thank you...

It was fantastic to see so many families at school last Sunday for the Happy's Circus event! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the show by supporting the school, and a special shout-out to those volunteers who dedicated their time and effort to make the event a success. Your contributions are greatly appreciated! A particularly big thank you to Daphne Howarth, Caroline Robinson and Del Simon who were 'team circus' and together organised/planned and ran this event. We made an incredible £4,000, which is incredible and a great start to our fundraising year ahead!

Dates for your diary

  • PFA calendar photos: Monday 14th October
  • End of term doughnuts: Friday 25th October
  • Christmas disco: Saturday 30th November

Christmas card competition

I am delighted to announce the launch of my Christmas Card Competition for 2024, and I warmly invite all children from local infant and primary schools to participate. In the next few days, you should receive a letter from me inviting you to take part.

This year, I am looking for creative and festive designs that reflect the joy and spirit of Christmas. The winning design will be used as my official Christmas card, sent to colleagues, local organisations, and members of our community. It’s a wonderful opportunity for young artists to showcase their talent and spread festive cheer!

The competition is open to all infant and primary school students, and I encourage everyone to take part. Whether it’s a snowy scene, a festive family gathering, or a creative twist on Christmas traditions, I am excited to see what our young people come up with.

Submission details:

  • Final submission date: 6th November 2024
  • Postal submissions: Please send the entries to Disraeli House, 12 Aylesbury End, Beaconsfield, HP9 1LW
  • Email submissions: You can also submit the designs electronically via email to joy.morrissey.mp@parliament.uk
  • Please ensure the name of the pupil, age, and school are included with the entry.

I look forward to seeing the wonderful designs and celebrating the creativity of our young people.

Wishing all pupils the best of luck.

Kind regards,

Joy Morrissey MP
Member of Parliament for Beaconsfield
