There have been so many Romans visiting school today and they have been very busy while they have been here! Pizza making, decorating coins, dancing, creating mosaics and the list goes on. Thank you to the Year 2 team for making the day so memorable for the children, it has been a fabulous way to celebrate all that the children have learned about ancient Rome.
The final values home learning about Perseverance has now been loaded onto Google Classroom and Tapestry. The Kindness bands have been coming into school and they are looking really colourful on the mobile. Once it is completed we will post some photographs of Respect and Kindness home learning in the Newsletter. Many thanks for supporting us with this values work - it makes such a difference that the children have had some of the discussions with adults at home prior to us covering it in school.
As we approach half term and as part of the regular review of the school's Covid risk assessment, I have been making some changes which particularly affect Reception families. A letter has gone out today to parents & carers of Reception children about these changes. Changes for other year groups will be communicated in next week's newsletter.

Report from RRS Ambassadors
Following on from their school worship and making each class aware of the UN Convention on the rights of the child the RRS ambassadors would now like to take this work further and get the children thinking about campaigning for those rights.
We have uploaded some information onto the Home Learning platforms (Google Classroom or Tapestry) about 4 of the Articles we would like the children to think about. With your child you can pick one of the Articles you feel we should campaign on and then come up with a way of pursuing this campaign :for instance making a poster, writing to our MP or making a presentation on the issue.
Upload your ideas on the Home Learning platform or email them to Mrs Howarth office@marlow-infant.bucks.sch.uk. Mrs Howarth will share your ideas with the RRSA's and they will decide on an issue we can pursue as a school and use some of your ideas to plan our campaign.
Mrs Howarth would also like every child to complete a Pupil Questionnaire in support of our Rights Respecting work and our bid to be awarded Gold status. The Questionnaire will be posted on Google Classroom and Tapestry and the link to it is also here

Parent Consultations
If you do not have the Google Meet invitation for your Parent Consultation please contact the school office as soon as possible so that we can resend this to you.
We would remind parents that the meetings are scheduled for 8 minutes and we do need you to stick to that timing. Teachers have back to back appointments scheduled all through the two sessions and any time you run over will cut into the time available for parents coming after you.
If you have an issue to discuss which needs longer than the 8 minutes allocated please contact the school office to arrange a meeting with your class teacher at another time.

Year 1 Superhero Day Thursday 22nd October
Thursday 22nd October is Superhero Day in Year 1. We are looking forward to seeing which 'Superhero' you decide to dress as, whether that is a comic book hero like Superman or Wonderwoman; an everyday Superhero like a nurse or a fireman or your own Superhero.
Any child who does not wish to dress up should come to school in uniform as usual.

Sandygate Stars Lunchtime Club
After the half term holiday Sandygate Stars will be returning to Thursday lunchtimes. Sandygate Stars is a lunch club run by the children's ministry team from All Saints Marlow on the lines of 'messy church' - usually including a bible story, a song and a craft.
Matt Clark, from All Saints Church, will be starting the club for Year 2 for the first half-term and then after Christmas it will be run for Year 1. Each year group will get half a term and then we will switch to the other year group. Numbers will be limited to 15 and we will send out details of how to request a place to Year 2 parents next week.

Following a resignation there is currently a vacancy on the Governing Body of our school for a Parent Governor. A letter will be coming out from the Governors in the first week back after the half-term holiday to ask for nominations. In the meantime we would invite any parent who is interested to contact the school office for more information on the role of Parent Governor.

Message from Different Class
Our school uniform supplier, Different Class, have asked us to communicate to parents that they are still experiencing difficulty with availability of stock and to pass on their apologies. They inform us that this is a nationwide issue and that they are doing everything they can to work through this.
Unfortunately in some instances they have no idea as to when the stock will be available as the manufacturers are dealing with the supply chain issues on the stock reaching them as everything is coming from overseas.
Where they can, they are sourcing alternative garments if they are able to colour match and the team are working tirelessly on production and sending these out.

Message from Buckinghamshire Council
Dear Parents,
We would like to thank you all for working with schools across Buckinghamshire to support the return for pupils. We know that all of you are keen to ensure that schools and pupil ‘bubbles’ remain open and there is a reduced need for pupils to self-isolate. We currently have over a thousand children within the county who are required to stay at home, and like you we are keen to minimise the impact on pupils and families wherever possible.
You can help with this through ensuring that government guidance is applied in your own lives, and especially when you are at or near your child’s school site. Please make sure that you maintain appropriate social distances (2 metres/three paces apart) whilst collecting and dropping off your children and that you maintain hand hygiene before and after touching playground gates etc.
These simple actions, as well as wearing masks if you need to go inside at any time, will help your child’s school to remain open and that children do not have to isolate at home unnecessarily. This message is endorsed by Children’s Services and Public Health at Buckinghamshire Council as well as primary, secondary and special school head teachers.
Yours sincerely,
Simon James Service Director: Education
Children’s Services Buckinghamshire Council
