In school this week

This morning we held our Christmas by candlelight, and it was a wonderful way to end the term. The children were really excited to have a special visit from Father Christmas! We are all very thankful that Father Christmas was able to make time for us.

The staff team have been amazing, as always, this year and I would like to thank them for their continuing dedication, going the extra mile to provide nurture and wonderful learning opportunities for the children.

Sadly, Mrs Phillips, who has been part of the SEN team for many years, is leaving us this term. She is retiring, but she won't be idle-she has lots of plans, travelling and gardening to name just two. I would like to thank her for her contribution to the school over the years and for the impact she has had on the learning of the children she has worked with.

We are so blessed with the support of a wonderful parent body, and we have been warmed by your generosity this Christmastime. Not only in the form of the gifts that have been sent into school for the staff, but also in the support through charitable giving.

We would also like to thank the PFA committee for their continued support of our school. This is not only through the amazing amounts of money they raise for us, but also by the huge range of jobs they do from providing refreshments for Open mornings and Nativities to making 165 Christingles. We really could not do what we do without them.

I would like to wish all our school families a happy, peaceful and healthy Christmas, and we are looking forward to seeing you all in 2024.

Mrs Reynolds

General news and reminders

Walk to School Week 8-12th January - Whole school

This is an opportunity to blow off those Christmas cobwebs and get moving again. The school Travel Plan committee have organised a Walk to School Week during the first full week back at school.

Walk to school week actually means walk/bike or scoot to school and, for those living further afield, you can park & stride.

The theme for the spring term walk to school week is 'pimp your wheels' where we are asking children to decorate their bikes or scooters before riding them to school. We would like a photo of the decorated bike to be brought in to school or emailed to the school office. There are 2 categories:

1. Creative use of colour

2. Eco friendly decorating

There will be prizes awarded for each category.

We will also be tracking each classes' walking/wheeling to school and awarding a trophy to the class which has the most improved number of active trips to school.

More details to follow in the first newsletter of 2024.

Science Home Learning- Whole school

This week the children will have brought home a home learning sheet for science. This outlines a science activity which can be completed over the Christmas holidays.

The sheet is also posted on your child's Google Classroom, which you can access should the paper sheet be lost.

You can post completed home learning onto Google Classroom photo or written form, or it can be emailed or sent into school.

The deadline for completion is Friday 5th January.

Christmas nativity memory – Whole school

We hope you enjoyed watching our Christmas nativity performances. The children did brilliantly! We would like to offer families a chance to buy a digital photo of your child/ren dressed in their nativity costume, together with a video link of your child's nativity performance. A huge thank you to Mr McGrath for taking some time out of his busy schedule to professionally film both performances for us today. Please purchase this bundle by today, Tuesday 19th December. Your money will go straight to the School Fund. We aim to send you your bundle the first week back after the Christmas break.
