In school this week

Our Safety Day on Wednesday offered the children lots of opportunities to learn new skills and ways to keep themselves and others safe. Their interactive First Aid session with Mrs Burns (Thanks to Mrs Burns for giving her time freely) was really popular, and you can see below some of the things that they learned.

I have enjoyed looking at the photos of the Year 2 children at All Saints when they visited on Monday. The opportunity to consolidate their learning at the church meant that, on their return, there was lots of excited chatter about what they had done and what they had seen.

Seeing the children learning outside today, struck home how wet it has been over the last few weeks and their enjoyment of taking the lessons outside could be plainly seen. The Year 2 maths lesson which focused on drawing 2D shapes using what the children have earned about their properties was made even more memorable for the children as they used chalks and rulers on the playground!

This time next week, we will be entering the final preparations for the Christmas Fayre. We are looking forward to the first Fayre at Christmas time for several years. The PFA have been working hard getting everything ready, and I am sure it is going to be a fantastic occasion - I look forward to seeing many of our school families there!

One Can Trust

The School Councillors are delighted to report that our One Can Trust box was full this week, and so it was kindly delivered to One Can Trust by one of our parents helpers this morning. Thank you so much for your generous donations to-date.

The food bank has made a call for specific Christmas donations as per the below list (also available on their website). The school councillors would like to support the charity with this Christmas collection as much as possible, and we are asking everyone to bring in a donation during the week of 28th November. We will be putting out additional collection boxes for us to fill!

Walk to School Week

Next week is walk to school week, and we would invite everyone to travel to school in a sustainable way, may it be walking, cycling or scooting. If you do need to drive we would encourage you to park further away from school and walk part of your journey. Throughout the week we will be recording how the children travel to school and at the end of the week the class with the most sustainable journeys will receive an award!

We are also asking parents to take a travel survey to find out about your experiences of travel to school. Please click here to start the survey.

Many thanks, the Travel Plan Committee

General News and Reminders

Managing Medicines on School Premises

With the winter and bugs season upon us, we would like to remind parents of the School Policies with regard to managing medicines on school premises.

Pupils will only be given prescription or non-prescription medicines after parents have completed a consent form, and this form can be found on our school website here.

Where clinically possible, medicines should be prescribed in dose frequencies which enable them to be taken outside school hours. Antibiotics prescribed three times a day can be taken out of the school day. The school will support children who have been prescribed antibiotics that need to be taken four times a day.

The full policy is available here. Thank you for your cooperation.

Amazon Wishlist

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas and we would like to remind parents that we have an Amazon Wishlist for books for our school. If you wish to purchase any book as a Christmas Present for the school, please click here to check out our Wishlist. Thank you!

1-Minute Maths App

This year we have started using the 1-Minute Maths App to improve the children's fluency. This is also something that you can use at home, and you can download the App via the following link: https://whiterosemaths.com/1-minute-maths
