Choosing the highlight of this week has been difficult - in fact I don't think I can. There have been so many exciting things happening! From the first of the Year 2 visits to Pizza Express, Year 1 visiting All Saints, Year 2 testing which materials were best to allow their boats to float the longest, to the wonderful Harvest Festival yesterday. There has been so much to choose from.
The Harvest Festival was the first of our whole school services this academic year, and it was incredible to see everyone together. The children sang their hearts out and the Worship Leaders confidently shared with us the importance of being thankful. All the adults who joined walked out of the school hall with huge smiles on their faces! Our next service will be our Advent Service at All Saints' church on 1st December at 2.00pm, and we would love just as many parents to join us for this service as there were at Harvest yesterday.
Our last curriculum information session took place on Wednesday and the feedback was extremely positive, with all the parents who attended saying that the session was really useful. The presentation is now on the Year 2 classes' Home Pages for those who were unable to attend. I would like to thank Mrs Howarth for her work in preparing and delivering the Key Stage 1 sessions and likewise Mrs Burkitt for the Reception session.
We had an emotional celebration worship today as we said goodbye to Mrs Beckett - she has written a little note to everyone below. I am pleased to welcome Ms Gastineau to the role of Communications Officer. Her first day in the office was Wednesday, and she has been able to take advantage of some valuable hand over time with Mrs Beckett.

Year 2 History
This week, Year 2 have been finding out what it is like to be an archaeologist. During their outdoor learning they dug up 'artefacts' hidden in the ground in the teepee and they have then been finding out more about those artefacts. They have also been writing Newspaper articles imagining what it would be like to be an archaeologist who had made an amazing discovery.

Message from Mrs Beckett
I would like to thank the whole Sandygate family for all their good wishes as I leave and move on to my next adventure. Sandygate school has been part of my life for over 15 years, first as a parent with my 3 daughters attending the school and then as a member of staff for almost 12 years. It has been a privilege to work in such a special place and I will remember it fondly always. I am sure that I will return to visit for Christmas Fayres and the like as I am sure my daughters will insist on it!

Report from the Art Council
The Art Councillors have been working hard to update our School Charter display board. We met together to discuss and vote on our favourite design. Each Councillor then had to create a 'Sandygate child' for the board. These creations are unique and special with collage, paint and creativity used. They met again to create the big background where we experimented with different colours and tools to create our sky. This has all been put together to create a final eye-catching display.

The costume can be as simple or elaborate as you would like but please remember that they will be wearing it all day and still need to be able to continue with normal school activities.

Reception Drop-off
All the children in Reception have now settled into school routines wonderfully and it is great to see them coming into school, putting away their belongings and getting into class so wonderfully.
We would now ask that parents move away from the gate as soon as their child has gone through so that the line moves as quickly as possible and everyone gets into school in good time. Once your child has gone through the gate please move back up the field and exit through the gate furthest from the school building to help the flow of people coming in.
