Recycle Week 21st - 27th September 2020
Theme: 'Thanking the Nation - Together we Recycle'
Now in its 17th year, Recycle Week is a celebration of recycling, organised by WRAP under the Recycle Now brand.
This year, the theme will thank the nation for continuing to recycle despite the challenges that COVID-19 has presented, under the banner 'Together - We Recycle'.
We want Recycle Week 2020 to recognise the sacrifices that key workers and citizens have made to keep recycling going and create positive change in the world around us. Our recycling and waste key workers have heroically carried on collecting while the world slowed down around them.
Why not take a look at the Recycling Week Challenges shown below and see if you can do any of them at home? Perhaps you can take some pictures and send them to the office or upload them on your Google Classroom?
As a school we have tried to be proactive in our Reduce, Reuse, Recycle efforts over the past few years. We are very proud of our Green Flag which recognises our efforts as an Eco School. Whilst not strictly recycling, we have made a small eco effort already this term.
Since we returned to school in September, lunches have been delivered by Dolce in the form of a 'grab bag'. This meant that each lunch ordered was being placed in a separate paper bag and then the hot element was being served in a polystyrene takeaway container. This was generating a huge amount of waste each day. We have worked with Dolce and from today lunches are no longer delivered in separate bags but instead we have reverted back to the 'in-flight trays' which were previously used to serve lunch to the children. These are taken away after lunch by Dolce to be washed and brought back the next day.
