In school this week

I bet there were lots of celebrations in your homes on Monday evening after the Prime Minister announced that all Primary children could return to school on March 8th?  As you will have seen from my letter yesterday, all of us in school are excited to welcome all the children back. We are busy getting the school building ready for all the children - changing rooms back to classrooms from 'film studios' and ensuring that all our control measures are well resourced and in place. Flexibility is the name of the game!

I have enjoyed seeing photographs sent in of children expressing themselves creatively following the school worship that I posted on the on line learning platforms before half term. It was part of Children's Mental Health Week activities which shared with the children the importance of making time for creative expression. I am hoping to use the photos to make a large canvas of children being creative. Please keep sending the photos in so that we can have a wide selection of activities. There are some examples below.

Positive Thoughts

We have had a few more positive thoughts sent in - see below in bold.

"You're doing better than you think"

"No matter how you are feeling, get up, dress up, show up and never give up!"

Never give up, try and try again!

When it rains, look for rainbows....

Positivity isn’t standing in the rain and saying it isn’t raining, it’s about finding a silver lining in the clouds

Look for something positive each day, even if some days you have to look a little harder.

You are amazing just the way you are

You don't have to be perfect to be amazing.

Remote Learning

We are really pleased with how parents and children have engaged with the remote learning that the teachers have been setting since January. The parent consultations this week and the monitoring of the children's learning that we have been doing have shown us that the children have progressed well since the beginning of this Lockdown. We would like to encourage parents and carers to continue to access the remote learning next week so that we can quickly pick up learning from the planned point when the children return on March 8th.

World Book Day Thursday 4th March

Don't forget to sign up for a Story session for next Thursday - the staff are looking forward to seeing your book character costumes and sharing their costumes with you.

We also want to see your Get Caught Reading challenge pictures and will be sharing these with you at the end of the week. Just email them to the school office.

If you were unable to print out the digital book voucher we do have paper vouchers in school and will send these home with the children when they return on 8th March.

Clubs

A number of clubs will be returning when we come back to school on the 8th March. Please see the details below

Scrumys Rugby

This will run after school on Monday for Year 1 and Thursday for Year 2. Anyone who previously signed up and paid before Christmas will be registered for this term with nothing to pay and will then receive a credit for the missed sessions to carry into the summer term.

Scrumys teaches specialist skills and behavioral education running along our core ideology of Respect, Discipline and Fun! The aim of the sessions is to offer additional development for your child in physical and social skills whilst having lots of fun

As the club for each year group is on their PE day they will be in PE kit so will not need to bring in any additional kit. For booking and more information you can download their booking letter from our website here  or directly  here

Multisports

USport will be running Multisports after school as well and we will send booking details out as soon as we have them.

Sandygate Stars

This will run on Thursday lunchtime for the children who had signed up prior to Christmas to take part in the first half of the Spring term. They will take part until Easter and then after Easter we will offer the club to Year 2 children.

School Re-opening 8th March

We are very pleased that we will be able to welcome all the children back to school on 8th March. We have been working hard to ensure that our school is as safe as possible for children and staff and have updated the Risk Assessment which you can find on the school website here

You should have all received a letter by email yesterday setting out start times, PE days etc for the return to school. Please note that there are separate letters for Reception and KS1 which are different and so, if you have children in more than one year group please ensure you read both letters.

Year 1 Art Pack

The Year 1 teachers were out today delivering art packs for the children for next week. We are very much looking forward to seeing the children's creations and displaying them when they all return to school.
