Amani UK works to set up links between UK and Kenyan schools, and they run a programme where schools across the globe can correspond with one another and exchange experiences of their local life and culture.

The Brighter Future Academy, Oyugis, Kenya

The Bright Future Academy in Oyugis is based in a town in Homa Bay County, Kenya, serving as a commercial and financial hub for the Rachuonyo South District. It's located along the Kisumu-Kisii highway, approximately 20 kilometers north of Kisii town. 

The academy started as an after-school program and has grown into a full-fledged primary school with online and face-to-face learning options. 

Our Ongoing Link

Our school’s partnership with Bright Future Academy has grown from strength to strength over the years and our collaboration has blossomed into a vibrant, two-way exchange of culture, ideas, and hope. Our children regularly exchange letters, artwork, and Zoom calls, fostering friendships, and a deeper understanding of life in different parts of the world.

 

This partnership has not only enriched our curriculum, particularly in subjects like geography, but it has also nurtured empathy and curiosity amongst our children.

Perhaps the most powerful aspect of this partnership is the way it reminds us that, regardless of where we live, we are all part of a global community. Our students have come to see that their voices can make a difference — not just locally, but internationally.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to nurture and grow this partnership, we are exploring new ways to collaborate, including more digital exchanges and joint curriculum projects.  Our long-term goal is to support each other and continue to learn from each other in meaningful and lasting ways.
