Year 2 Footsteps
Footsteps Training Programme - 23rd June - 4th July
Parents and carers are, quite naturally, very protective of their children and sometimes make all the necessary decisions about crossing roads without involving them in the thought process or providing no guidance at all. Many children travel by car rather than walking and therefore have little exposure to traffic. We think road safety is one of the most important lessons in life and, as such, we ran Footsteps Training for our Year 2s this month.
Footsteps is a practical pedestrian training programme which aims to develop awareness of roads and helps children live safely in traffic. The Year 2s were taken into the local area by Mrs Higham and some parent helpers to observe the traffic and discuss road safety.
The children will be awarded certificates next week for completing Stage 1 Footsteps Training.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Higham, who organised the whole programme and to the parent helpers; Charlotte Thomson, Mandy Rooney, Libz Dorsett, Jo Murray and Emma Hocking who gave up their time over the past 2 weeks without whose help, this important training would not have taken place.
