Marlow Church of England Infant School

Geography Day

Geography Day - Wednesday 18th June

On Wednesday, we enjoyed a whole school Geography Day. Each year group learned about one of the 7 continents of the world: Reception learned about Australia, Year 1 learned about Asia and Year 2 learned about South America. The children researched each continent and some of its countries, creating fact files about them and taking part in a variety of cultural activities inspired by those continents.

It was wonderful to see the children performing dances and creating artwork based on their continent. The children also took part in an orienteering activity, going on a scavenger hunt to find all the continents to complete a puzzle of the world.

The afternoon was spent focusing on Africa and learning about our Kenyan link school, Bright Future Academy. The children found out more about the school and wrote letters that will be sent to the children there. We rounded off the day in an attempt to recreate the Kenyan flag with the children in their black, red, green and white colours (some imagination/ artistic licence may need to be applied here!)
