Marlow Church of England Infant School

All Saints Church

As a Church of England school we have very close links with our parish church, All Saints Marlow.

Embody a Christian and spiritual community

The Church in School

The clergy and the Youth Ministry team lead our whole school worship on a regular basis and we try to make this once a week. They also attend various special services that we hold in school through the year including Harvest Festival and our End of Year Leavers Service.

Volunteers from the congregation of All Saints, together with the Children & Youth Worker run a weekly lunchtime club, Sandygate Stars, which includes a Bible story, music and a craft activity.

A member of the clergy team from All Saints holds an ex-oficio position on our Board of Governors, at present, this is the Team Rector, Revd Dave Bull.

We aim to make the clergy team from All Saints part of our school family and for them to be as familiar to the children as the school staff members.

The School in Church

We take part in the regular @10:59 family service once each term with some of our pupils leading prayers and songs during the service.  We also hold some of our key school services at the church which has included our Easter and Advent Services.

Children from the school visit the church regularly as part of their RE and other lessons and have in the past visited Lent prayer installations, exhibitions on Refugees and visited the church to learn about Remembrance Day.

We provide display boards which are put up in church to inform the congregation on the activities going on in our school and have also taken part in other exhibitions in the church including the annual Flower Festival.

The School & Church in the Community

As a school, we aim to foster a sense of community in our pupils and look for opportunities to make a difference locally and further afield to further this aim we often work alongside All Saints Church on Community outreach. This has included running collections for the local food bank, One Can Trust, sending Christmas gift boxes for children in need overseas and organising books and stationery to be sent to school children in Sierra Leone.

In the summer term of 2021 each year group undertook an act of service to our community: Year 2 visited the May Balfour gardens where they picked litter, weeded the flower beds and cleaned the sundial; Year 1 held a tea-party for some of the older members of the church congregation who had been isolated during the pandemic and Reception helped to tidy the churchyard at All Saints Church.

Praise in the Park is an annual event organised by churches and church schools in the Marlow area with the aim of coming together in a public act of praise and worship.  It is held in the summer term in Higginson Park, Marlow with each school re-enacting a Bible Story through music, dance and drama.
