Marlow Church of England Infant School

Science Week

Science week has inspired lots of learning around the theme of growth

The week started with a school worship from the Science Councillors talking about what science is and how we use it in all sorts of ways. They also talked about the various types of scientific enquiry that we can use when we are learning.

We would like to thank all the parents who have come in to share their love of science; Mr White, Mrs Guyatt, Mr Murphy, Mrs Rowntree, Mr Guillou & Mrs Scott. The children have been inspired by learning about fossils, electricity, medicine, animals and biology.

The theme for this year's science week was growth and each class has spent some time with Mrs Reynolds planting seeds to grow in their raised beds. Reception have planted potatoes and beans, Year 1 planted peas, radishes and tomatoes and Year 2 peas, mint and strawberries. They have talked about companion planting and have also planted marigolds and nasturtiums alongside the vegetables to act as natural pest control.

Thank you to Mrs Gallop and Miss Wynne who came in to help Mrs Reynolds with the gardening.
