Celebrating Indonesian Culture

Celebrating Indonesian Culture - 9th-13th March

We are very pleased to welcome back Aris Daryono this half-term. Aris has been visiting our school for many years. Aris has been working with the Year 1 children this week to share his passion for the music and art of Indonesia and his homeland of Java. He has been teaching the children to play gamelan music.

The children have also been learning about Batik art. The art of decorating cloth using wax and dye, has been practised for centuries in many parts of the world, including Java, an island in Indonesia. Batik is part of an ancient tradition, and some of the finest batik cloth in the world is still made there.

The Year 1 team would like to thank the parents who came in to help the children with their Batik Art.
