It was Communication Week for the Reception children last week. As part of this, on Wednesday, we invited grandparents into our Reception classrooms to share the joy of reading with the children.

Fun was had by all, as the grandparents spent time sharing some of their favourite books they had brought in from home, along with lots of other books from our library. Stories were shared and conversations were had with their grandchildren and their friends, making it a really lovely part of Communications Week.

Reading together supports children’s language development, listening skills and love of books, and we know how special it is for children to share this experience with family members. 

A big thank you to those grandparents that came and helped make Communication Week a memorable and meaningful experience for our youngest learners.
