We have a busy and very successful Parents & Friends Association at Sandygate who organise numerous events throughout the school year both to raise funds and equally to provide opportunities for parents and families to socialise. Last year we raised in excess of £33,000 .

What do we do? We try to provide a little something for everyone with the range of events we put on. Last year children’s events included donut days, discos, an Easter egg hunt, and an ice lolly day. For the parents we held a quiz night and a brush party and a camping night for all the family. Other fundraisers included a late night shopping stall and the provision of refreshments at events such as sports day, open evenings and the nativity plays. We also sold items such as photo calendars, Father’s day mugs, tea towels and second hand uniform. Our main fundraising events each year are our Christmas Bazaar and Summer Fayre.

How can you help? We collect items such as used clothes through Bag2School, used branded printer cartridges and foreign or obsolete coins. You can raise money while you shop through Amazon Smile or Easyfundraising. Your company can Match Fund any money you have helped raise at one of our events. And last, but not least, you can help us by donating your precious time in any way you can. It will always be very much appreciated!

How is the money spent? Without support from the PFA many of the enrichment activities in school would not happen. The PFA underwrite the cost of coaches for all school trips which last year included trips to Mop End in Amersham, Whipsnade and Hughenden Manor. We also fund visitors in school to support topic work such as a Great Fire of London day and Javanese musician Aris Daryono. We also recently paid for the installation of a new sign-in system to improve the school’s safeguarding procedures, more art resources for all year groups and a new storage shed for the Foundation Stage.

The PFA are a small team of parents and are always happy to have new ideas and support. Please contact them by emailing or visiting their Facebook page: Regular meetings are held throughout the school term at which everyone is welcome.
