Pirate Day

17th May 2013

On Thursday 16th May, Year 1 was captured by Pirates!!

As part of their literacy work on fantasy stories and characters Year 1have been studying JM Barrie's story 'Peter Pan' and on Thursday they spent the day dressed as pirates.  They wrote their own stories based on the Peter Pan characters, made a fantasy setting in a shoebox and thought about their pirate characters.

They also decided to use the day to raise money for the Harry Mills charity, who are holding their own pirate day in Marlow next week. So each pirate paid a £1 bounty to come in to school and during the day they baked pirate cakes which they sold at the end of the day to raise money for the charity which helps research into meningitis.
